Sr. M. Celine Kannanaikal was born on 13th Feb.1931, at Kundanoor in the Archdiocese of Thrissur. Porinchu Kannanaikal and Plamena Pulikottil were her parents. She was baptized on 23rd Feb. 1931 at Our Lady of Carmel Church Kundanoor.
After her school education, Celine completed her T.T.C and taught in St. Marys Holy Family Convent School, Ambakad and St. Thomas U.P School, Kurachund. With the help and guidance of Rev. Fr. Varghese Thayil, the parish priest, she entered the Ursuline convent in Kannur on 24th June 1954.
Sr. Celines love for the Crucified Lord was extraordinary. She wanted to live and to suffer for Jesus. The physical pains that the Almighty God, in His infinite wisdom permitted her to suffer were, indescribable.
Sr. Celine made her first profession on 20th June 1957. Being purified in the crucible of pain and suffering, the Lord found her fit for the mansions of heaven on 25th July 1957 at the age of 26. During her lifetime she was favored with ecstasies and visions of Our Lord and St. Theresa of the Child Jesus. On her profession day Jesus had told Sr. Celine that He would come soon to take her to her eternal home. She lived only 35 days after her profession. ". When I reach heaven I will ask Jesus to heal the wounds in your hearts and to wipe away the tears from your eyes, was the promise made by Sr. Celine before her death and she is true to her word. She is proclaimed as SERVANT OF GOD on the 28th July 2007.
