Fr. Augustine John Ukken was born in Parappur in Thrissur district in December 19, 1880 as the second son of Punnaparambil Ukken Anthappanand Chalakal Annamma. He was ordained priest in December 21, 1907, by Dr Clements Pagany, the Canty Bishop.
The Servant of God Augustine John Ukken (1880-1956), a pioneer of the apostolate of charity in Central Kerala in the beginning of the 20th century was a diocesan priest from the diocese of Trichur. He is the founder of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity in November 21, 1944 .
Canonization process His canonization process was started on November 30, 2007 and was declared as Servant of God by Metropolitan Archbishop of Thrissur Mar Andrews Thazhath at the Our Lady of Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral on August 24, 2008.
